Dr. Jenny Kilgore

Over 25 years experience as a Christian educator

Currently teaches
  • undergraduate education courses for Miami University of Ohio
  • graduate courses in the Master of Education programs at Indiana Wesleyan University and the College of Mount St Joseph
Previously taught
  • middle school English
  • served on curriculum development committees at Landmark Christian Schools
  • served as an outside curriculum consultant during its merger with Trinity Christian Academy
Presently
Jenny accepted Christ as her Savior through the testimony of the man she would later marry, her husband for the last 35 years. Together they raised two children, a daughter and a son in a Christian home, church, and school. Both children graduated from Landmark Christian School and later the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as officers in the United States Army. She has always considered Isaiah 6:8 a personal commission and taught her children and students that talents are God-given gifts which come with the responsibility to develop and later return to God.

To identify with Christianity in any walk of life means to embrace and embody New Testament teachings and the example of Christ. Christians, as educators, model Christian character, compassion, and respect for learners as they facilitate opportunities to allow each student to reach her or his personal goals and God-given potential.

Because Cheryl's dad was in the Navy her family lived in Japan when she was a young child. During that time, she came to know Christ as her Savior. A wonderful missionary lady, using flannel-graph during a Children's Church service, explained Jesus' gift of salvation. Understanding from the lesson that a person must choose to receive Christ, Cheryl went forward and asked Christ to be her Savior. Her spiritual journey has continued since that time. She serves with her husband in their local church and together they strive to walk faithfully in the name of the Lord (Micah 4:5).

Cheryl has a grown son who had a stoke at birth and required special education. She's seen "both sides of the table" and is passionate about working with families as they strive to navigate the special education maze.
